The unique shopping and entertainment center on Manezh Square called Okhotny Ryad is practically complete. The center will be able to receive 330,000 visitors at a time. It has 4 levels with 69,000 sq. meters in total area (17.05 acres). It is located within 100 meters (10 yds) from the Kremlin and was built in only 2 years. So far it is the biggest structure of this type in Europe. Today Manezh square is a gorgeous recreational park with statues, fountains and four levels of underground boutiques, food quarts, offices etc. Jacques Chirac has visited the square a couple of times. First, as a distinguished guest of President Yeltsin and second as an observer comparing Manezh square to the square in Paris that it is modeled on. Mr. Chirac was very impressed with the underground construction. In fact it is a center that will soon be enjoyed by all, tourists and Muscovites alike.
