FROM ROCKIN’ TO ROLLIN’: ANTIGUA’S NIGHTLIFE CAPTURES IT ALL
ANTIGUA, West Indies -- Antigua can be as quiet or as lively as you make it. During the week, nightlife tends to focus on wining and dining at hotels, but on Friday and Saturday nights the island lights up with some of the best steel bands in the Caribbean. From trendy to relaxed, limbo to calypso, there's a range of nightspots on Antigua. Hotels can give advice on reliable hot spots, so hop in a taxi and mingle with the friendly locals.

CASINOS:

The Royal Casino, in the Royal Antiguan Hotel, features an array of games from blackjack, baccarat, roulette, craps and slot machines.
St. James's Club at Mamora is reminiscent of a Monte Carlo-style casino. This state-of-the-art facility will provide a spirited night of unsurpassed gaming at one of Antigua’s most glamorous addresses.
King's Casino on Heritage Quay is a smaller casino in St. John's proper.

NIGHTCLUBS:

18 Carat, on Market Street in St. Johns is currently the most popular and sought-after dance club and night bar on the island. The club attracts a swanky over-21 crowd who socialize among the latest techno and house music; the courtyard restaurant is a favored meeting place for Antigua's young elite.

BARS:

The Bay House at Tradewinds Hotel is the best spot to mix with local and visting singles.
Lashings attracts local cricketers who always magnetize a fun-loving, dancing Tex-Mex eating crowd.
Admiral's Inn, in English Harbour, is a favorite among the sailing crowd. Try one of Norman's daiquiris (the island's best) or ask the bartender about the famous guests he's served, from Richard Burton to Prince Charles.
The Life Bar is a local watering-hole at Nelson's Dockyard, a popular spot for visitors arriving aboard yachts.
Mainbrace is the most authentic British pub at Nelson's Dockyard, which serves up tasty plates of fish and chips and frosty pints.

BEACH BARS

Millers by the Sea hosts the best happy-hour in town—grab a margarita and a spot beach-side.
Castaways is a boisterous beach bar/bistro with a Tiki feel - from the thatched roof to the colorful local murals. The menu is inexpensive and features tapas and pub grub and occasional entertainment.
Darkwood Beach Bar is a very easy-going bar that serves terrific local food, including fresh lobster, for lunch. Overlooking the sand from a simple wooden shed, this is an excellent stopover for watching the sunset.
The Beach is a stylish and popular beach bar/bistro/lounge at the heart of the action on Dickenson Bay, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu features a fusion of world cuisine.
