Where To Stay Lodging choices range from hotels to cottages and farmhouses. The Scandinavian Bonus Cheque, Nordic Hotelpass and Notsa Hotel Cheque are good for discounts at selected hotels. Don't forget to try the sauna.Transportation Arriving & Departing: Helsinki/Vantaa Airport is about 25 minutes from Helsinki; the airport van service fare is about $11; bus fare is about $5. There are crossings from Stockholm to both Helsinki and Turku aboard large, luxurious car-carrying ships. Getting Around: For information on the Finnrail Pass and the Scanrailpass, see by rail. The Helsinki Card entitles holders to rides on city buses, trams and subways; free sightseeing and admission to museums and galleries; and discounts for metro-area restaurants. The 1998 card costs about $25 for 24 hours, $32 for 48 hours or $39 for 72 hours, and can be bought at the city tourist office, hotel reservation center at the main rail station or most hotels.
