Bonaire - Sand Dollar Condominium Resort / Overview

This reasonably-priced and well-managed resort has a simple idea--all of its guests, diver or non-diver, adult or child, should be able to make their own choices from a smorgasbord of activities and facilities. The Sand Dollar's on-site PADI five-star IDC training facility, its broad seaside terraces, lighted tennis courts, a freshwater pool, and a small white sand beach are all available. Guests can spend the evening relaxing on the terrace of The Green Parrot Restaurant, holding an impromptu group barbecue along the shoreline, or cooking a simple meal to enjoy on a private balcony. With some of the world's finest reefs located just yards from the shore, you may find that all of your wandering is seaward. However, if you feel like exploring Washington Slagbaai National Park, or simply touring around the island, the Sand Dollar can provide you with a car rental from its on-site agency. The Sand Dollar's quality and flexibility have made it an especially popular destination for couples, families, and groups.

The Sand Dollar Condominium Resort is located on Bonaire, the diving capital of the Caribbean, 75 miles northeast of Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea. Bonaire is known for its charming Dutch archtecture beauty, bird watching and fabulous diving, and many other eco-tourism activites.

LOCATION:
On the water, adjacent the Sand Dollar Dive & Photo and the Green Parrot. 10 minutes from airport and minutes from the town shopping.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
85 beautifully appointed accommodations, all with a terrace or balcony, air conditioned bedrooms, cable TVs and full kitchen and more. This two-story hotel is an excellent place to spend any vacation or purchase a condominium.

CLIMATE:
Dry, temperate climate average 83&degree; F, 29&degree; C year around.

DRESS:
Casual resort attire is appropriate. No wet clothing in Green Parrot please.

LANGUAGE:
The official language is Dutch, and Papiamento but English and Spanish are widely spoken.

CURRENCY:
The guilder, or florin, is the Netherland Antilles' unit of money. (1.77 N.A. florin is equal to the U.S. dollar). U.S. currency is widely accepted.

TAXES & GRATUITIES:
There is a 10% service charge on rooms, food & beverage, and diving. 6% sales tax on foor & beverage, and rental dive gear. $6.50 per person per night room tax and T.I.L. on lodging.

Open daily, full Padio 5 star facility, that offers all phases of diving instruction and certification. State-of-the-art underwater photography, equipment sales and rental, film processing & slide viewing room, plus underwater photo/video instructions. Guided snorkeling, Guided Eco-Tours, kayak rentals, Bicycle rentals from "Cycle Bonaire." Ocean's Classroom Kid's program - sign up required.
